I have a relative coming up from down south and intend to go trout fishing. He`d love to see one of the stretches we fish, but as there are no day tickets for sale, I wondered if I could take him out as a guest?  If not, I can get tickets for the Cart.

I'm afraid we do not sell day tickets, and the association has voted not to go down that road. A situation that I don't see changing anytime in the future.

i think day tickets just give people the excuse that they have been looking for a ticket while fishing for free.

being by the river and being one with nature is what fishing is for me.

Hi Derek, I`ve been an Association member for over 8 years and agree that day tickets would not be beneficial on the Kelvin. I was merely asking if it would be possible to take my relative out for a couple of hours C&R fly fishing as a guest, the way I can on his club water down south.  The thread wasn`t about day tickets as my post shows. Hope you injuries are healing well, might see you on the river sometime.     regards PeterSmile

Some sort of guest entitlement would be good. Maybe being allowed a guest a couple of times per season. Pre-booked with the guv, of course.

I think this could work.

Say two coupons per member per year allowing members to have two guest days (either two single days or two guys for one day). Date of fishing, guest's name and address goes on the coupon (must be a non-Glasgow postcode – real guest from outside the Kelvin catchment -not your mate from round the corner) +members details . Proof of identity must be carried by all.

The member submits the coupons to the secretary at least one week in advance and takes responsibility for his guest.

The Secretary knows in advance if any guests are to be on the river (can advise baliffs).

Only Catch and release  for member and guest on guest days -avoids problem of who actually caught that nice salmon !

The upside is a little perk for the members but like everything else could be open to abuse.

Would need the support of the majority of members of course which might prove difficult.Frown

Ok, I can see the point for increased revenue for the club by selling day tickets, but, I for one, feel that there are enough anglers ( probably too nay to be honest) on the river already, and with a very slim balliff force, it could be very difficult to control
